Batten down the….closets?
Have you ever had an epiphany? I call them “Duh Moments”, but scholarly folks call them epiphanies - guess it sounds better. For quite a while now, we’ve had a problem with the kiddos getting into their closets when they were supposed to be napping. This has created monumental messes, to the extent you wonder who threw down the ladder and let all the neighbor kids climb up here and help create this monstrosity. Needless to say we were quite shocked to learn that it was only our three precious little angels that had done the deed.Well, after numerous reorganization marathons, that were only short-lived, I all but gave up on having any sort of order in the children’s closets. Until this weekend. My wonderfully intelligent, talented and very handy husband (think MacGyver, only cuter
announced we were going to put locks on the closets!! Now, in my younger years (and with a little more sleep, a lot more coffee, and more than 5 consecutive minutes of quiet), I could’ve come up with the same idea. But being one who is fair and gives credit where credit is due, my Mark was the shining star of the weekend. After a necessary trip to the hardware store for supplies (which ended up taking several hours - guess those closet locks are hard to find!) he set to installing the locks. With his three little helpers in tow, the task only took about 5 hours!! The first naptime, with secured closets, has come and gone and all is well.
Until next time…. when we discuss the ineffectiveness of drawer locks. :-\
